SUMMARY:2024 In-Term Swimming Yr 4 to Yr 6
DESCRIPTION:The following are the arrangements for in-term-swimming lessons for Year 4-6 students. \n(Week 1 – 2 (WEDNESDAY 17th July to FRIDAY 26th July) at Gosnells Leisure World- 8 sessions) \nIn-term swimming lessons for Year 4-6 students are integral to the Department of Education’s Physical Education Program. The Department of Education covers the costs of swimming tuition\, and parents only pay for pool entry and bus transport. \nParents should also be aware that many high schools offer electives in which a level of swimming proficiency is required to participate. In primary school\, in-term swimming classes allow students to advance their swimming skills. \nSwimming Permission Form Yrs4-6 2024 \nParents who have offered to attend swimming sessions due to their child’s medical condition will be notified in Term 3\, Week 1\, before swimming starts. \nSwimming Schedule\n\nGroup 1- Yr 5-Rm 15\,  Yr 4-Rm 20 \n\nDeparture Time: 10:35am\nLesson Start Time: 10:50am\nChange Time: 11:30am\nArrival Time at School: 12:00pm\nGroup One has changed recess (10.20-10:35am) & normal lunch (1.05-1.50pm)\n\n\nGroup 2- Yr 5-Rm 16\, Yr 4-Rm 21 \n\nDeparture Time: 11:40am\nLesson Start Time: 12:00pm\nChange Time: 12:40pm\nArrival Time at School: 1:10pm\nGroup Two normal recess (10:45-11.05am) & normal lunch (1.05-1.50pm)\n\n\nGroup 3- Yr 6-Rm 18\, Yr 6-Rm 5\,\n\nDeparture Time: 12:30pm\nLesson Start Time: 12:45pm\nChange Time: 1:25pm\nArrival Time at School: 1:55pm\nGroup Three has normal recess (10:45-11.05am) & changed lunch (12:05-12:30pm)\n\n\nGroup 4- Yr 5-Rm 14\, Yr 4-Rm 19\,  Yr 6-Rm 17\n\nDeparture Time: 1:15pm\nLesson Start Time: 1:30pm\nChange Time: 2:10pm\nArrival Time at School: 2:40pm\nGroup Four has normal recess (10.45-11.05am) &  changed  lunch (12:50pm-1:15pm)\n\n\n\n  \n\nPoints to Note for Parents\n\nStudents will travel by bus to the Gosnells Leisure World to the swimming pool.\nBefore their departure\, students can change into their bathers at school (bathers either brought in a plastic bag or worn underneath their school uniform) & wear their school uniform over their bathers to the pool & suitable footwear (in this case\, thongs or slip-ons). Students must change back to their everyday footwear upon returning to school. Swimming goggles & caps are permitted; please ensure your child’s name is written on them. Students will take home their wet bathers and towel in their plastic bags.\nStudents ordering lunches from the canteen will be catered for\, but students may need to consider their departure & return time.\nChildren with long hair must have it tied back before swimming. It is not appropriate to wear jewellery or bring valuables to swimming lessons.\nAny children unsure of their swimming stage (for parents who marked “Unsure\, please grade”) will be assessed before allocation to a class. If a stage change is necessary\, parents will be sent a note from the head swim instructor. Stages 1 to 15 are offered at pool centres. \nAny students who have attempted the same stage three times (in-term swim classes only) without passing need to tick the appropriate box on the stage form and attach copies of the last three certificates showing these attempts.\nParents of a child who has a severe medical problem (epilepsy or diabetes\, etc.) are encouraged to attend the swimming session when their child is swimming to assist in monitoring their child. These parents need to enter the pool through the front door of the pool complex when their child arrives at the pool. These parents are excluded from paying spectator fees but must make their way to the pool\, as space on the bus is at a premium. The swim centre requires a list of parents/guardians who are there for supervision. Please note in the section “Medical Details” if you can assist in monitoring your child’s health or notify Mr Combes so that arrangements can be made between the school and swimming centre.\nSupervision at the pool is shared between the pool and school staff. Misbehaving students will be entered into the daily swimming file for a follow-up meeting with the school’s deputies\, who will inform the child’s parents if necessary. If students continually pose a hazard to themselves or others\, they will be removed from swimming classes. Students removed from swimming for medical or behavioural reasons will only be able to receive a refund on pool entry costs (as transport costs are a shared cost).\nDue to concerns about swimming lessons in a public environment\, we have felt the need to be vigilant regarding access to change rooms. If your child needs the toilet at swimming lessons\, then these procedures will take place;\n\n\nStudents will ask their swimming instructor and then notify a teacher.\nThe teacher will supervise from outside the toilet/change-room area.\nWhen finished\, the students will inform the teacher and return to their swimming group.\n\n\nAfter swimming\, students will be given time to change at Leisure World’s changing rooms\, which will be supervised by FCPS staff.\n\nWhat Each Child Should Bring For Swimming \n\nCome to school with bathers under school uniform or in a named\, heavy-duty plastic bag. Remember your towel.\nSlip-on shoes or thongs are recommended for the bus\, as shoes can be left at school (optional). However\, children cannot wear thongs all day at school and must have regular school shoes to change back into on return.\nPlease ensure ALL articles of clothing are marked with your child’s name to avoid confusion when children are changing. If your child has asthma\, please ensure they bring their Ventolin and spacer. The duty teacher will hold these and all other medications for the duration of the class and then\, depending on the medication\, hand them back to the children at the end of their swimming class or return them to the medical room.\n\nNon-Swimmers \nChildren who do not attend swimming lessons will be supervised by teaching staff back at school with a work package provided by the child’s teacher. Normal class programmes may be modified for the duration of the swimming program. \nPayment \n\n$55
