SUMMARY:Year 3 Scitech Excursion
DESCRIPTION:The Year 3 students in rooms 22\, 23\, and 24 will have the opportunity to visit Scitech during Week 5 of this term.  During the excursion\, students will have the opportunity to watch Science come alive through interactive demonstrations\, view a show in the Planetarium\, and have facilitated access to the feature exhibition. They will also have the chance to explore science concepts independently during free time in the general exhibition section. \nThe students will visit Scitech on Monday\, 17th August 2026. The bus will leave school by 8:45am\, and students will return at approximately 3:00pm. \nThe students will need to come dressed in a school uniform (no faction shirts) and closed shoes. They will also need to bring a bottle of water\, as well as recess and lunch.

SUMMARY:Massed Choir Festival Rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:Our first rehearsal for the Massed Choir Festival is Thursday 20th August 2026 at Churchlands Senior High School. This rehearsal is very important as it will be the first time all the choirs assemble together and hear both parts of each song. The cluster rehearsal also focuses on the actions for each song\, and students learn how to follow the conductor’s instructions during the performance. \nWe will leave school at precisely 8.30am. Students will take their recess\, and we will eat at Churchlands SHS after the rehearsal at 11.45am before returning to school by 1pm. Please pack all recess items in disposable bags and all items\, including water bottles\, must be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Students wear normal school uniform for this rehearsal.

SUMMARY:2026 In-Term Swimming Yrs 4 to Yr 6
DESCRIPTION:The following arrangements are in place for in-term swimming lessons for Year 4-6 students. \nWeek 7 & 8 (MONDAY 31st August to FRIDAY 11th September) at Gosnells Leisure World- new scheduling. \nIn-term swimming lessons for Year 4-6 students are integral to the Department of Education’s Physical Education Program. The Department of Education covers the costs of swimming tuition\, and parents only pay for pool entry and bus transport. \nParents should also be aware that many high schools offer electives that require a level of swimming proficiency to participate. In primary school\, in-term swimming classes allow students to advance their swimming skills. \nDuring this time\, when we are very conscious of the cost of living expenses for families\, the school has rescheduled the Years 4 to 6 swimming program. Instead of students receiving two weeks of swimming\, one 40-minute session per day\, with 10 sessions in total\, we will have one group of students (two classes) receiving one week of swimming\, one 80-minute session per day\, with 5 sessions in total. A break can be provided for the students at the end of the first 40 minutes if required. So for Week 7\, two groups (including four classrooms in total) will attend one week of swimming\, and in Week 8\, two groups (including four classrooms in total) will attend one week of swimming. \nMore Information Years 4 to 6 Swimming \n

SUMMARY:Year 2 Fremantle Prison Excursion
DESCRIPTION:To coincide with our Term 3 HASS focus\, Importance of the Past\, the Year 2s will be visiting the Fremantle Prison on Monday\, August 31st. Children will participate in a one-hour Historical Prison tour where they will explore the building and cells of Fremantle Prison and discover what life was like for a convict transported to the Swan River Colony. The tour guides provide an entertaining experience for the children as they discover how time was passed in the yards\, while marvelling at original prisoner works of art. \nWe will be leaving school at 9:00am and returning between 12.30-12.45pm. All students will need to wear their school uniform and closed-in shoes. Children will have their recess at Fremantle Prison before the tour commences at 10:30am. \nThey will need to take a hat\, water bottle and labelled recess in a zip-lock bag with them. Their school bags will stay at school\, and they will have their lunch when they return to school.

Our drama and visual arts will present their work in the undercover area. \n\nFCPS Choir will perform from 5:00pm to 5:30pm\nClasses will be open from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.\nThere will be a drama performance from 6:40 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the undercover area.\n\nThe Open Night is an opportunity for families to visit and see our students’ wonderful work and facilities. Teachers will be available to greet parents and caregivers who haven’t met before. Open Night is a time to celebrate the teaching and learning opportunities across the school; it is not a time for parent/teacher interviews. \nYou can make an appointment for a later date if you would like to have a more in-depth conversation with your child’s classroom teacher.

SUMMARY:Massed Choir Concert 2026
DESCRIPTION:The final rehearsal will take place from 5:30 pm to 6:40 pm on the night of the performance\, Saturday\, 19th September. Students will be taken by bus from school\, departing at 4:15 p.m. Students must have eaten before getting on the bus. No food will be allowed. Labelled plastic water bottles are permitted. \nStudents must wear their Choir shirt\, vest\, black pants\, school jacket\, and black shoes. Hair must be tied back\, and makeup is not allowed. (Vests will be given out to students on Friday afternoon.) \nThere will be no return bus. Students need to be picked up by a parent at approximately 9:00 p.m. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. and is expected to conclude around 9:00 p.m. Following the concert\, students are taken backstage. Your child will be able to be picked up from the designated door after the concert; more information will follow.

DESCRIPTION:PP-Yr6 Sports Faction Athletics Carnival is scheduled for this Friday\, 16th October 2025. \nStill to be confirmed-Lunch orders are only available through Flexischools (Sushi\, sausage rolls\, and drinks are the options). Please select your faction when ordering. Orders close Wednesday at 3pm. The canteen will not be open as the P&C will run a bake sale at the oval. Icecreams will be available from the school canteen at lunchtime. \n\nKindly\, Year 1-2 classrooms\, send lunch monitors to collect lunches from the canteen as per usual at 12:20 p.m.\nFrom the senior carnival\, faction captains and student councillors from each faction are selected to go to the canteen at 12:25 p.m. to collect pre-ordered lunches and bring them back to faction bays\, where teachers will distribute them.\n\nParents must sign out their Kindy to Year 2 students for lunch (sign-out sheet in Kindy to Year 2 classes)\, but they must be returned to class by 1pm so that the senior athletics programme can restart promptly. \nMessage from Mrs Horan\nOur school’s Athletics carnival is fast approaching and is to be held this Friday\, 17th October 2025. Please read the following messages for the children\, and I look forward to having your support on the day. \nMessages for children \nIf you colour your hair\, you must do it at home. Please do not bring sprays to school\, and also\, spike shoes cannot be worn. Please wear your faction shirt. Two water bottles are better than one whenever you come to school for a sporting event. \nPlease apply sunscreen at home for the juniors and at recess time for the seniors\, and reapply at lunchtime. At the time of this message\, Friday is going to be 28 degrees! \nAt the start of the day\, the Junior Primary will come down to the undercover area and the grass area to set up their factions. This needs to be done as soon as possible\, so be ready to come down when the siren sounds. I would like to start the first event by 9am. \nThe senior children are not allowed on the oval during recess time. When the siren goes at the end of recess\, go to your class and then come down to this area to line up in your factions\, ready for your marching. The carnival for you begins at approximately 11.30am. The march past will start as soon as the Junior Primary carnival is over. \nThe March past is also an opportunity to score points for your faction\, and the staff will be looking at faction shirts\, hats\, neat lines\, cheering\, and smiles. \nYou can eat lunch with your family. For Junior children\, your parent or caregiver must pick you up from your classroom. Lunch is at 12:30 pm – 1 pm. \nHave fun on the day\, show great sportsmanship\, and do your best.
