DESCRIPTION:Forest Crescent offers a short pre-Kindy orientation program for our incoming Kindergarten students\, which is hosted by Mrs Joanna Whitney.  We meet for 1 hour on a Wednesday morning for 5 weeks during Term 4. This program aims to allow you and your child to meet and play in one of our Kindergarten classes before starting in 2025. \nPlaces are limited to 20 children per session\, and priority will be given to children: \n\nwho have English as an additional language\nwho have special needs or\nwho are anxious about starting Kindy.\n\nDates for this year are: \nWednesday\, 30th October to 27th December \nThere is a choice of two sessions: \n9am – 10am OR 10am – 11am. \nInvitations will be included in the Kindy folder\, which will be handed out at the Kindy 2025 Parent Information Night on October 16th.

Teachers then bring the classrooms out to the stage area to be seated for the official ceremony\, which will start at 6:15 p.m. \nThis is a non-smoking and non-alcohol event\, so we would appreciate it if you do not smoke or consume alcohol on school grounds out of courtesy to other people. \nAt the end of the evening’s program\, students will return to their classrooms with their teacher. Parents will then be able to collect their children from the classrooms. After tonight’s events\, we would appreciate any assistance packing up.

DESCRIPTION:School staff participate in six professional development days for up-skilling on school priorities\, data review and forward planning each year. Students do not attend these days. Two of these days are before the school year starts for students\, and one day is after the school year ends for students. A Department term dates calendar can not be provided as each public school develops its own calendar. \n\nThere are six school development days that students do not attend:\n\nTwo of these days are before the school year starts for students\, and one day is after the school year ends for students.\nEach school schedules another three days throughout the year in consultation with its school council/board and school community.\nPlease view Forest Crescent Primary Website Calendar or contact your school directly for more information about its specific dates\, including school development days.\nStudents start the school year on Wednesday\, 31st January and end the school year on Thursday\, 12th December 20244.
