DESCRIPTION:The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for students in Years 3 and 5. \nNAPLAN tests the sorts of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life\, such as reading\, writing\, spelling and numeracy. The assessments are undertaken nationwide. This year our NAPLAN will be online\, except for the Year 3’s who will complete their writing assessment with pencil and paper. \nNAPLAN is made up of tests in four areas (or ‘domains’): \n\nReading\nWriting\nLanguage Conventions (spelling\, grammar and punctuation)\nNumeracy.\n\nThe school’s NAPLAN schedule will be published closer to the event.

DESCRIPTION:Students will be representing the school at the Vale Sports Association Summer Carnival. \nYour child will be representing the school at the Vale Sports Association Summer Cup Carnival. It will be held on Tuesday 26th March\, 2024. \nThe venues are: \nBasketball – Willetton Basketball Centre (Burrendah Blvd Willetton) \nVolleyball WA – Canning Vale Volleyball Centre (Catalano Circuit\, Canning Vale) \nCricket – Burrendah Park\, Pinetree Gully Rd\, Willetton \nSofcrosse – Burrendah Park\, Pinetree Gully Rd\, Willetton \nFrisbee – Burrendah Park\, Pinetree Gully Rd\, Willetton \nThere will be three buses providing transport for the carnival. \n\nThe volleyball team will leave at 8:20am.\nThe two buses for basketball\, frisbee\, cricket and sof-crosse will be leaving Forest Crescent at approximately 8:20am\, and all will return before the end of the school day.\n\nYour child needs to wear the school uniform shorts/ skorts/skirts (no black shorts)\, bring a drink\, a hat\, sunscreen\, and suitable footwear\, as well as their lunch and morning recess. Students will be provided with an interschool shirt or singlet (Basketball). It is important your child is at school by 8:00am to get their shirt signed out. They will also need to be returned at the end of the day\, as they are not to go home with students.  Each family signing out shirts is responsible for their safe return or is required to cover the replacement costs of $40. Students are not permitted to use coloured zinc. \nAll venues plan to start by 9:20 am. There is a code of conduct for students and parents. DESCRIPTION:As part of our History (HASS) programme\, we have planned an excursion on Wednesday 17th April 2024 to the Fremantle Maritime and Fremantle Shipwrecks Museums.  The cost of the excursion will be $17.00. \nWe will be travelling by bus\, leaving the school at 9.00am and returning at approximately 2.45pm. \nAt the Museums the children will be involved in a variety of facilitated and self-guided experiences and will not be required to complete worksheets. \nAll children are expected to wear their school uniform including a hat and bring a packed recess and lunch\, with a drink\, in marked disposable containers. Please also provide a rain jacket if the weather is inclement. \nParent helpers will need to meet us at the Museum your child’s excursion is starting at but will need to walk to the other museum (650m). DESCRIPTION:The Year 1 students have the opportunity to go on an excursion to the Constable Care Safety School in Maylands. \nStudents will experience the Safety School as pedestrians and cyclists and will learn and practice road and public transport safety skills in a simulated experiential learning environment. \nThe students will visit the Safety School\, by bus\, on the following date: \n\nThursday 9th May 2024\n\nThe bus will be leaving school at 8.30am and students will return to school at approximately 1.15pm. \nThere will be no cost for the excursion as we were successful in gaining a grant by Your Move and the Department of Transport.What to bring  \nStudents and parent helpers need to bring the following in a small backpack: \n\nsnack for morning tea\nwater bottle\nsun protective hat\nenclosed shoes\nschool uniform (clothes for adult helpers) suitable for riding bikes\nlong hair tied low to allow for helmets to be worn\n\nPlease note – school bags and lunches need to be left at your child’s classroom at school. \nParent helpers –Each class will require the assistance of 3 parent helpers.
