Established in 2022, the annual challenge is designed to make literacy fun and encourage all West Australian students to explore the joy of reading.

Register your child for the Premier’s Reading Challenge! From 7 April to 27 June 2025, students from Kindergarten to Year 12 can discover the joy of reading and log their progress for a chance to win weekly prizes.

How to register

Create an account by selecting the ‘Sign up’ option. You won’t be able to log any books until the 2025 challenge starts on 7th April.

  • anything that sparks their interest and gets them reading.

The challenge will:

  • encourage students to read more books
  • enjoy reading
  • improve literacy levels.
  • raise the profile of reading and literacy in schools
  • give students a focus for their reading
  • encourage students to enjoy reading and read more books
  • encourage students to participate by being challenged
  • offer incentives and prizes for readers
  • build self-esteem, pride, school unity and a sense of achievement among students
  • increase the involvement of parents in their child’s reading

Prizes for participation

  • Students who log their reading each week automatically enter the draw to win a prize. We have more than 200 weekly prizes, including tech gadgets, book vouchers, and e-gift cards.

    The weekly prizes celebrate students’ efforts in the challenge and encourage them to continue improving their literacy skills and enjoyment of reading. The prizes are drawn at random from students who have logged their books.
