Our school is dedicated to our students being Cybersafe aware and helping parents to better understand the networks and systems our students are using and to help them grow online with their kids. Communication, between parents and children, is ultimately the key along with empowering our families to have safer, more positive experiences online.

On Tuesday 2 April 2019, thanks to our P&C renowned cyber-safety presenter Paul Litherland, an ex-police officer, hosted a Partnerships with Parents workshop about the increasingly complex and vitally important topic of cyber-safety. Paul also offered some great tips and hints to help you maintain your sanity and peace of mind that your kids are doing what is expected of them. Year 5 and 6 students also participated in a student workshop with Paul during the day. See Surf Online Safe Website for further information. An additional reference is the Australian Government eSafety Website

Continuing in the same vein another informative site is the National Safety Online Site (UK based). Below are information pages pertaining to various social media. There are more guides on the site and they are regularly updated. Most social media sites and apps are limited to 13+ years, above the ages of most of our students, and therefore shouldn’t be accessed by our students. Providing this information is not an acknowledgement that Forest Crescent Primary endorses the use of social media by our students, but rather to provide that information that allows parents and children to realise the issues surrounding social media apps and sites.
