On the 26th November, the Forest Crescent Primary School Choir travelled down the road to Arcadia Waters Retirement Village. There the children sang a mixture of songs and then met with the residents during the intermission. The manager of Arcadia Waters has asked if the Forest Crescent Primary choir could make it a regular event in the coming years and more than one visit per year.

We are the Forest Crescent Primary School choir. Our choir has 60 students from Year 4 to Year 6 and we are very excited to be here today to sing for you. This is our first performance outside of school for the whole year.

Today we will be performing for you a number of songs from our repertoire and we will finish off with some Christmas carols to get you in the mood for Christmas.

Our first song today is Another Opening, Another Show. This is from the musical Kiss Me Kate.

Our second song is called All Swans Are White. All Swans Are White is a song about the first sighting of the black swan in Western Australia in 1696 by William DeVlaming, the Dutch explorer. Up until this event, people in Europe truly believed that all swans were white. This song features Molly Hall as a soloist. We hope you enjoy it.

Our next two songs are about life in the outback of Australia. The first one is called Living In The Bush.

We will follow that with Gundulla – We Dance. Gundulla means we dance in Noongar. The song is about the rich culture of dance and storytelling in the aboriginal culture.

The next song we would like to sing for is called You Won’t Bring Us Down. This song is the song that all of Australia sings at the same time on the same day. Every year students get together and write a song that all students in Australia can learn and sing. The purpose of this is to promote music learning in all schools around Australia.

To follow that we would like to sing for you All For Love. This song was a huge hit and featured the powerful singers Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams and Sting. It was from the movie, The Three Musketeers, and has a wonderful message about all for one and one for all, the motto of the three musketeers.

We will now have a 10-minute break. We would love to use this opportunity to come around and meet some of you. When we come back we will entertain you with some Christmas carols.

We wanted to finish off our visit with some Christmas carols to get you in the mood for Christmas. Our first one is an oldie, but a goodie, it’s Deck The Halls.

We will follow that with a song we call Christmas Funk. It is written to the tune of Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. We hope you like it.

Our next song is called Santa Koala and it was written to the tune of Waltzing Matilda. We will follow that with the classic tale of Rudolph, the reindeer who was different but proved to be one of Santa’s greatest assets.

Our next two songs are classic Christmas carols you are sure to know. Silent Night and Jingle Bell Rock. Feel free to sing along with us.

To finish off our performance today we would like to sing for you a song that was written by our music teacher Ms Britten to the tune of Dance Monkey, which is a very popular song at the moment. We call it Go Santa Go.

Our final song will be We Wish You A Merry Christmas. Please join in with us on this one.
