The IMMS instrumental program commences in Week 2 (Monday- Brass, Guitar, Wednesday- Flute & Clarinet)
- IMSS lessons are a priority over PEAC sessions; please see if alternate arrangements can be made for PEAC classes if there is a conflict with instrumental lessons. IMSS lessons are regarded as a PEAC program.
For Year 6’s, it is business as usual with their books and instruments.
However, Year 5 students must complete the Loan Agreement and pay at the front office before the instruments are loaned out. If you purchase your child’s instrument or lease from a shop (and not the IMSS lease), you aren’t required to fill out the Loan Agreement or make a payment.
The Year 5 students’ timetables will run as listed; however, the Week 2 session is only to hand out information booklets, allocate instruments, and do a meet-and-greet. If you already have your instrument, bring it along.
At the music teacher’s discretion, students who haven’t paid for a loan instrument may use their allocated loan instrument at school, but they won’t be able to take it home until payment has been made.
All students need to be at classes five minutes beforehand so that they are ready to commence the session, with the first session students collecting music stands

Classical guitar students must supply their instruments at the commencement of tuition. Parents of students playing other instruments are encouraged to obtain their child’s instrument right from the start of tuition. This is a sound financial decision for those who can afford it, saving a significant portion of the purchase price over the long term. It is strongly recommended that you wait until instrumental teachers have advised you on appropriate instruments before purchasing. Successful applicants will be provided with a shopping list.
Loans of department-owned flutes, clarinets, trumpets, and trombones are available (on request through your child’s school) for the first year (Year 5) if required. Cellos are available for two years, and baritones and double basses are available for participation. Parents must pay a non-refundable $125 instrument charge to the School before taking possession of a Department-owned instrument. This amount covers depreciation, routine maintenance and repairs. It does not cover wilful damage, negligence or loss, for which parents will generally be liable.
Loan forms have been sent out in Weeks 1 & 2.
