The second round of the WA Student Assistance Payment will soon be available for every eligible student in Western Australia. It will provide cost-of-living relief for families to help with children’s schooling.

All WA school students from Kindergarten to Year 12 who are actively enrolled at a public or non-government school or registered for home education are eligible.

Parents and carers can claim $250 for each secondary student and $150 for primary and kindergarten students.

Claims open on 28 April 2025.

Payments per child available to claim during term two:

  • $150 for kindergarten and primary school students
  • $250 for secondary school students

This will assist parents in paying for school essentials and extras, including books, stationery, computers, uniforms, excursions, and camps.

Eligibility criteria

WASAP is available to students from kindergarten to year 12 who are enrolled in a WA public school or non-government school or are registered for home schooling.

Students enrolled via the School of Isolated and Distance Education, mature-age students studying to achieve a Western Australian Certificate of Education, and full-fee-paying international students enrolled in a WA school are also eligible to apply.

Student eligibility will be validated through their unique WA student number (WASN), which is found on school reports and previous NAPLAN results and may also be on a secondary school student’s SmartRider. The student number can also be found on Connect on your child’s report. Kindy children’s parents can contact the front office via email to request their child’s student number.
