The Year 4 students had Vivienne, from Cleanaway, come in to talk to the classes about the recycling process. Below are two recounts of the event.
On Thursday we had a person come in called Vivienne to tell the class about Reducing, Reusing and Recycling and what to put in the rubbish and recycling bins and where it all goes.
I learned that you are not supposed to put shredded paper in the recycling; it will get stuck in the machines.
I also learned where the recycling that you put in the bin goes. My favourite part of the incursion is when we did group activities on the floor. My favourite activity was when we had had to put the stages of recycling in the correct order at the recycling place.
I wish Vivienne could come again to teach us more.

On two Thursdays, Vivienne came in to teach us about recycling. I was shocked when she told us about their machines.
I learnt that all the general waste gets taken to a landfill and that they used to take it to the ocean. I heard that sand makes glass. I was surprised.
Vivienne made us do different activities to make it fun. We also learnt about all of the machines that all the stuff in the recycling bin goes through. My favourite part was when we
had to figure out what goes in the recycling bin
