Dear parent/carer
I trust that you enjoyed the ANZAC Day long weekend, even though we were in restricted lockdown conditions.
I am writing to advise you of the Operating Guidelines we are implementing this week as directed by the Department of Education based on the advice of the Health Department.
From 12.01am on Tuesday 27 April 2021 until 12:01am on Saturday 01 May 2021 all persons who live in the Perth and Peel regions are subject to certain restrictions and requirements as part of a post lockdown restriction period.
As of Tuesday, 27 April 2021, schools will be open for all students.
Masks are required to be worn by all staff at all schools and secondary school students, unless:
- the person has a physical, developmental or mental illness, injury, condition or disability which makes wearing a face-covering unsuitable;
- the person is communicating with a person who is deaf or hard of hearing and visibility of the mouth is essential for communication;
- engaged in strenuous or vigorous exercise;
- the person is consuming food, drink or medicine, provided that they are seated at the time.
Teaching staff are permitted to remove their mask while teaching to help with clear communication and instruction.
Primary school students are not required to wear masks while attending school.
Schools should maintain cleaning regimes as per Phase 4 guidelines.
Schools should reinforce COVID-safe behaviours, including:
- Individuals should stay home when unwell;
- Promote and practice good personal hygiene;
- Ensure a physical distance of 1.5 metres between adults, where practicable;
- As per the AHPPC guidelines, promote outdoor air ventilation, where possible.
- Assemblies and school events can go ahead but without parents in attendance.
Following this latest health advice, our school remains open for learning and parents/carers will be able to drop their children at school.
Parents are allowed on school sites; provided they:
- wear a mask at all times;
- practice 1.5 metres between adults physical distancing, where practicable;
- follow good hand and respiratory hygiene practice; and
- drop their child at the classroom door and not enter the classroom.
Thank you to all parents who wore their masks today and observed social distancing practices, we appreciate your ongoing support. As soon as I am provided more information with regards to the ongoing Operating Guidelines post-Saturday 1 May I will inform you as we have important Mother’s Day events scheduled for next week.
The safety of staff and students is a priority and extra cleaning and hygiene measures continue. The latest health information is available through WA Health Department.
Should you wish to discuss any concerns, please don’t hesitate to call me or drop me a line andrew.holmes@education.wa.edu.au
