Forest Crescent is in the process of updating consent for all online resources and web apps. Our school provides access to the Department of Education online services. These enhance the contemporary learning opportunities available to students and the range of teaching tools available to staff to deliver the Western Australian Curriculum.

The Department’s online services currently provide students with access to:

  • individual email and calendar accounts;
  • the internet, with all reasonable care taken by central office and schools to monitor and control students’ access to websites while at school;
  • online teaching and learning services such as Connect, web-conferencing and digital resources;
  • online file storage and sharing services; and
  • these online services at locations other than school.

If you agree to your child using these online services, please sign the Permission for Students to Have an Online Account form and Online Services Acceptable Use Agreement form and complete the permission slip attached to the package that went home today. Please explain the content of the Online Services Acceptable Use Agreement to your child before the permission slip is signed.

Both forms should be returned to school to create an online services account for your child.

Also in the package is the permission form, Permission to Publish Students’ Images and Work for School Purposes for the school to publish video or photographic images of your child and/or samples of your child’s schoolwork to be used by the school and the Department of Education. The purpose of using the images or work will be for the promotion of the school, school events and student achievements.

Your child’s image and/or school work may be published for the above purposes in a range of formats such as hardcopy and digital, including audio and video file formats, and published to a range of media including but not limited to school newsletters, email, school and Department of Education intranet and internet sites including social media websites (e.g. Facebook, YouTube etc.), any third-party applications and local newspapers in hardcopy and digital formats, which may enable viewers/readers to identify your child.

The last section in the package contains consent forms for the school to supply personal information to third-party services.

Online third-party services often require separate account creation and login credentials and provide content, activities or transactions via the internet. These services often require schools to provide personal information on student and/or parents.

Third-party online services are provided by an external organisation, consultant or independent contractor and may be free or paid.

The school has provided a list of third-party services and Apple apps used in the school but don’t require parental consent. Other third-party services and apps do require consent (see Bundled Consent and Explicit Consent forms). Parents and guardians must fill in the consent forms for their children and return them to their class teacher, which the office will then collect to have student records updated. These forms will also form part of the enrolment process of new students. Please see your class teacher if you have any issues.

It will be appreciated if all forms are signed and returned by 26th February to your class teacher for collection.
