Last Friday evening, on the 25th of November, Forest Crescent Primary School (FCPS) celebrated its first-ever Fathering Project Big Camp Out, and the results were nothing short of spectacular! The event, organised and coordinated by Mr Jeff Albert, brought together dads, father figures, and kids for a night of laughter and creating lasting memories.
As shared by Mr Jeff Albert on The Families of FCPS Facebook page, the turnout was impressive, with 36 adults and 56 kids participating in the festivities. The positive energy and enthusiasm were palpable, showcasing the strong sense of community within Forest Crescent.
The collaborative efforts of individuals like Abby Galvin, Abby Albert, Katie Gordon, and the dads who volunteered their time were also recognized. A special shout-out was extended to Ryan Jenkins, the Parent and Citizens Association (P&C), and sponsors Woolworths and Coles for their contributions, making the Fathering Project Big Camp Out a free event for all attendees.
Undoubtedly, the driving force behind the success of the evening was Mr Jeff Albert, the coordinator of the Forest Crescent Fathering Project. His dedication and hard work not only ensured the success of this inaugural event but also laid the groundwork for what promises to become an annual tradition at Forest Crescent. Gratitude was also expressed to Mr Andrew Holmes, the school principal, whose support played a crucial role in making the event a resounding success. Mr Andrew Holmes was acknowledged for his dedication to ensuring that the children at FCPS have the best school experience possible, building memories that will last a lifetime.
The Fathering Project, a crucial program within the school community, played a pivotal role in fostering connections between dads, kids, and the school itself. Recognising the vital role that fathers and father figures play in children’s lives, the Fathering Project is dedicated to promoting positive fathering behaviours and increasing fathers’ engagement with their children.
The evidence supporting the positive impact of involved fathers on children’s health, mental well-being, social success, and academic achievements is robust and indisputable. The Forest Crescent Fathering Project Group stands as an evidence-based organisation catering to fathers from infancy to adolescence.
The success of the Fathering Project Big Camp Out at Forest Crescent highlights the importance of community, family, and the positive influence of fathers. As the event looks poised to become an annual tradition, it symbolises the enduring commitment of Forest Crescent to creating a nurturing environment where dads, kids, and the school community can thrive together.
