School Board Election – Parent Representative Statements

Jessica Siva

As a parent at Forest Crescent Primary School and an experienced education leader, I would like to nominate for the School Board. With over 18 years of experience in public education, including leadership roles in curriculum, operations, finance, and strategic planning, I understand the importance of strong governance and community partnerships in supporting student success.

My experience includes budget management, finance committee membership, policy implementation, stakeholder engagement, and leading school improvement initiatives. Combined with my background in Business and Marketing, I can contribute skills in strategic thinking, financial oversight, and effective communication.

As both a parent and educator, I am committed to supporting the school’s continued growth and ensuring positive outcomes for all students. I value transparency, open communication, and strong partnerships between the school and wider community, and I believe these relationships are essential in creating a positive and successful learning environment.

I would welcome the opportunity to contribute to the School Board and work collaboratively with staff, families, and fellow Board members to support the school’s strategic priorities and ongoing success.

Mahalakshmi Saikumar

I have been part of the school community for over eight years, with my son attending the school from Kindy through to Year 6. My daughter is currently a student here, having also started her journey at the school in Kindy. Over the years, I have developed a strong appreciation for the school’s values, staff, and commitment to supporting students and families.

As a parent, I care deeply about the environment in which our children learn and grow. I am passionate about supporting a school that is inclusive, well-run, and focused on both academic achievement and student wellbeing. I am particularly interested in helping ensure that decisions about school priorities, finances, and programs are made thoughtfully, transparently, and in the best interests of students.

Professionally, I am a lawyer and work with policies, problem-solving, and people every day. My role requires me to analyse information, consider different perspectives, and make balanced, informed decisions. I also work closely with a range of stakeholders and focus on finding practical solutions to complex issues. I believe these skills would allow me to contribute positively to the Board’s work in planning, governance, and reviewing the school’s progress towards its goals.

I am approachable, open to different perspectives, and committed to working collaboratively with parents, staff, and leadership to support the school’s continued success. I believe the best outcomes are achieved through respectful consultation, open communication, and a focus on what is best for our students.

I would be honoured to be part of the School Board and contribute in a positive and constructive way to our school community. We have a wonderful school, and I would be proud to support its continued success and strong connection with families.

I am seeking a position on the School Board to contribute to the ongoing success and effective governance of our school community. As a parent of a Year 5 student, I have a strong interest in ensuring the school continues to provide a safe, supportive, and high-quality learning environment for all students.

My professional background is in the Australian Public Service, where I have developed extensive experience in policy development, governance, compliance, and risk management. Through this work, I have gained a strong understanding of the importance of sound decision-making, accountability and the effective implementation of policies and procedures.

I believe School Boards play a vital role in supporting school leadership by providing strategic oversight and ensuring appropriate governance frameworks are in place. I am particularly interested in contributing to robust governance practices and helping to ensure that risk assessment and management processes effectively support the school’s objectives and long-term success.

I would welcome the opportunity to use my skills and experience to work collaboratively with fellow Board members, school leadership, staff, and the wider school community to support positive outcomes for all students.
