On Saturday, 19 September, our Choir students had the wonderful opportunity to perform at the HPC Stadium in Mount Claremont as part of the annual Massed Choir Festival.
The students were incredibly excited and did a fantastic job, performing all of their songs with confidence, enthusiasm and professionalism.
Adding to the excitement, West Australian native and composer Tim Minchin, featured in the photo, sent a special video message wishing everyone good luck! One of the songs performed was ‘Revolting Children’ from Matilda the Musical, which was written by Tim Minchin.
The Choir also performed a fantastic variety of songs, including ‘Let Me Entertain You’ by Robbie Williams, ‘Help!’ by The Beatles, and ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling!’ by Justin Timberlake.
This year’s commissioned song was ‘Wars of the West’ by composer Paul Jarman. The song took a humorous look at the famous 1932 attempt to cull emus in Walgoolan, Western Australia. The emus famously outsmarted the gunners and avoided being culled — so, in the song, the emus are proudly credited with winning the Wars of the West!
Overall, the Massed Choir Festival was an incredibly entertaining and memorable experience. Our Choir students have worked very hard in class to learn all of the songs, and their dedication really shone through in their beautiful performances.
Well done to all of our wonderful Choir students! You should be very proud of yourselves!
