School COVID Safe Operating Guidelines Monday, February 8th

Dear Parents.

As you know the Premier last night confirmed the 5-day lockdown for Perth, Peel and the South West would be lifted today at 6 pm however with some restrictions in place.

The good news is that schools will be open from Monday, February 8th, and ALL students and staff must attend unless they have a previous medical exemption.

I previously sent out a community communication on Friday, January 29th outlining the COVID safe procedures for Week 1.

All of this information remains current; however, there are some further restrictions that we all need to abide by to ensure a smooth transition and that we comply with the COVID safe requirements.

Monday, February 8th – Day One

  • All parents/carers are welcome on the school site but must be wearing a mask, not gathering in large groups, practising good hand hygiene, and keeping their social distancing.
  • Primary school students are not required to wear a mask; however, parents may opt to provide a mask if necessary.
  • Parents of students in Years K – 1 may enter their child’s classroom at the classroom teacher’s direction to assist with day one organisational activities. All parents must abide by the 4m2 rule and keep their social distancing. Once students are settled, the parent is requested to leave.
  • Parents of students in kindergarten – This week will commence the transition program as was previously scheduled to begin last week. Please read your timetable carefully and make sure you know which morning to attend this week.
  • Parents of students in Years 2 – 6 are welcome on the school site but are requested to drop their child off at the classroom’s front door and not enter the classroom. If negotiated with the teacher, a parent may enter the classroom to assist with day one organisational activities keeping their social distance and abiding by the 4m2 rule. Once students are settled, the parent is requested to leave.

Tuesday, February 9th onwards.

  • All parents/carers are welcome on the school site but must be wearing a mask, not gathering in large groups, practising good hand hygiene, and keeping their social distancing.
  • Primary school students are not required to wear a mask; however, parents may opt to provide a mask if necessary.
  • All students to be dropped at the classroom door (except kindy). Within COVID safe guidelines, parents may negotiate with their child’s classroom teacher before entering the classroom where an identified need has been established but must abide by the 4m2 rule and keep their social distancing.

Apart from dropping off and pick up, all visitors to the school must come through the front office to sign in as per our regular requirements.

I want to thank the Forest Crescent community for your continued support to ensure our community’s health and well-being remains a priority. I hope that the goalposts don’t change over the weekend, and the current run of no community spread continues. Should any directives change, I will advise you as soon as possible.

I know we are all looking forward to getting back to school, students and staff and I look forward to working with you in 2021. To download the information contained in this letter, then click here.
